For the third year in a row, Waterford and Kilkenny will do battle in the All-Ireland hurling championship. The two sides have been drawn against each other in Round 2 of the qualifiers, with the winners progressing to the All-Ireland quarter-finals.While the two sides are near neighbours and local rivals, Kilkenny have regularly got the better of the Deise down the years. In fact Waterford haven't beaten the Cats in the summer since the 1959 All-Ireland final.
Déise selector Dan Shanahan says the Cats will be hard to beat, but is hoping Waterford can bring a big performance on Saturday The other hurling qualifier sees Dublin take on reigning All-Ireland champions Tipperary. The games will be played this Saturday at neutral venues to be determined by the CCCC.
