A proposal for the new Walsh Park is included in the Waterford GAA Strategic Plan which has been released today.
Construction work at the city venue is set to start in 2022 with the first phase to be completed by spring 2023. The full redevelopment is due to be finished by 2025. The county board aims to provide a high quality family-friendly stadium, of reasonable capacity, to serve the GAA community and provide a positive user experience for 30 years.
County board chairman Sean Michael O'Regan told WLR's Lár Na Páirce show that the project will cost between 10 to 12 million euro.

A 4G all-weather pitch will be installed at Fraher Field and the county board also hopes to establish a long-term agreement with WIT for use of their facilities at Carriganore.
In January 2020, the Government allocated €3.75 million to the Walsh Park project through the Large Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund. Work was put on hold however due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Facilities is one of six areas covered in the report. A new commercial committee is also set to be formed as the board aims to generate €10 million in commercial and fundraising income over the next five years.
The strategic review committee was made up of Pat Whyte, Timmy O’Keefe, Fergal Hartley, Michael Walsh, Tony Corcoran, John Moloney, Pat Flynn and Sean Michael O’Regan.
