Waterford FC bowed out of the FAI Cup at the quarter final stage after they were defeated by UCD at the Belfield Bowl last night.

UCD took the lead with their first attack when Conor Davis touched home a right-wing cross from Greg Sloggett. Gary O'Neill went close to increasing UCD's lead on 26 minutes, his shot was deflected out for a corner kick which wasn't properly cleared. Timmy Molloy unleashed an unstoppable shot past Niall Corbet from 20 yards.

It was a very disappointing display for Waterford during the course of the first half and little changed during the second half.

However, the Blues were awarded a lifeline from the penalty spot on 78 minutes when Gary O'Neill fouled Rory Feely. Stanley Aborah sent Conor Kearns the wrong way from the spot.

Waterford failed to kick-on from that spot kick and they bowed out in very disappointing fashion from this year's FAI Cup.
