This year is like no other - and when it comes to sport we've been watching matches behind closed doors for some time now.
Horse racing was the last sport to stop as the pandemic gripped the country. It had been running successfully behind closed for some weeks at that point.
Like all other sports events, crowds of any significance are not permitted to attend as of yet and when it comes to racing, a sport which is also an industry -the owners are not allowed to watch their horses run.
Last week, the proposed return of owners was extended by a further three weeks.
Tramore and Galway are known for their race festivals which draw people from far and wide. A large portion of the punters come from outside the racing fraternity and this year, the Tramore races will have to contend with having just the bare essentials required to run a race meeting.
