Déise ladies forward Róisín Tobin was delighted to get back on the field against Clare after spending twelve months on the sidelines with a cruciate knee ligament injury.
"It was brilliant to be honest. I had been working so hard to get those minutes and to get the whole game was a bonus. I put in so many sessions on my own that it was great to be part of the team again. It was feeling of 'I'm back'. You're making yourself available for the games to come and you can earn a spot again."
It was a long road back to full fitness for the Abbeyside attacker. "I had the operation in May and I was blessed, Santry were brilliant in Dublin. It was broken down into a three, six and nine month review. My physio Kenny Murphy was a great support in guiding me with gym programmes. It was rigorous enough and lonely as well. There were days when you're on your own on the field and trying to get the motivation to come back. The hardest part was going training with the girls. You were on the field but you weren't doing their training, you were doing your own. You're so close yet so far away. To get a game the last day was brilliant."
Waterford face Cavan in the Division 2 semi final on Sunday in Banagher at 1.30. Cavan came out on top in last year's semi by 1-8 to 0-8.
