"They've definitely got firepower," Ballymac captain Wall on Finuge/St. Senans

It's another big weekend for Ballymacarbry who aim to maintain the defence of their Munster club football crown.

They face Finuge/St Senans in the provincial semis on Sunday, knowing that a win puts them within 60 minutes of retaining the Michael Ryan Cup.

Last time out, Ballymac were dominant winners over Fethard, shooting 6.11 to the Tipp Champions 1.03.

Kelly Ann Hogan nailed 2 goals and five points from play, with Bríd McMaugh similarly kicking 2.04. Captain Aileen Wall also got in on the action raising a green flag, as did Clare Walsh.

In Kerry, Finuge/St Senans beat Southern Gaels in the Kerry final - a team that Ballymac beat last year on their way to the provincial decider.

Speaking to WLR Sport ahead of throw-in, the Captain, Wall admits that Finuge are a slight unknown.

"They beat Southern Gaels in a very tight final. We don't know much about Finuge, but we know that Southern Gaels are an excellent team so for them to overcome them, they've definitely got firepower," said Wall.

That title in the Kingdom was a first-ever senior championship for Finuge as they avenged their loss to the same opposition in the 2022 final.

Miriam O'Keeffe starred for the newly crowned champions sending the ball to the back of the net in the third minute of play. She would go on to eek out another green flag on the stroke of halftime when her attempt at a point dropped below the crossbar and found grass.

O'Keeffe kicked a point also, while Jackie Horgan sent five points (1f) through the sticks to help secure their three-point win.

Ballymac were tested in the county final win over Comeragh Rangers, but forward Sadhbh Hallinan makes the point that they often take some time to find their flow.

"I think it's kind of the way we go every year, it takes us a bit to get going, but I think we're really starting to flow now. At the start, we had a couple of players missing this year so it took a while for us to knit as a group, but we're starting to work well together now and we showed that last Sunday," noted Hallinan.

They're underway at St.Senans Mountcool from 2 o'clock on Sunday.
