The Nire reclaimed the Conway Cup after a nine points to seven win over Kilrossanty in a tense senior football final at Fraher Field last night.
Kilrossanty led by five points to two in the opening half but The Nire kicked six in a row to take control of the contest.
Man of the match Darren Guiry converted three frees.
The Nire survived a late goalmouth scramble to lift the trophy for the ninth time.
Nire full back Thomas O'Gorman was relieved to hang on for a two point victory. "It was pure luck we won in the end, the ball crossed in front of our goal on two occasions in the last 30 seconds. How there wasn't a Kilrossanty man to touch it in on the other side, is hard to believe."
