Jamie Barron has been one of The Nire's star performers since his return from a quad injury. He scored three points against Brickey Rangers, two against Ballinacourty and covered every blade of grass in the county final.

GAA writer with the Dungarvan Leader Mac Dara Mac Donncha sang his praises on Friday's Lár Na Páirce. "Jamie Barron covers miles of ground. The man does three marathons in each game he plays! He is really back to his best and it's fantastic to see."

Younger brother Tom has impressed at full back in the absence of Thomas O'Gorman. "I like the way they defend. Tom Barron seems to be the go-to man marker now that Thomas O'Gorman is short of match fitness."

The Nire will travel to Ennis on Sunday to take on Clare champions Éire Óg in the Munster club football quarter final. Conor Gleeson is their main injury worry after he came off in the county final with a dislocated shoulder. "If they don't have him, it will make their task much more difficult. He is a fantastic ball winner. He is one of the best I've ever seen to take a low ball. He's a tremendous footballer. If he was missing, it would be a major loss."
