Waterford boss Pat Sullivan has called on the LGFA to change the championship structure for 2023.

“The championship is not fit for purpose at the moment. There’s three teams in a group, two games and if you don’t win one, you’re in relegation. We should have a situation where the All Ireland finalists are seeded, two groups and five games. At the end of those five games, if you’re good enough, you’ll be in a quarter final or a semi final. If not, you’re not good enough to be there. Hopefully, that will be looked at next year. What will be very important to us next year is a full league. We had a league this year where we played Dublin, Meath and Cork. If we have a full league, that will give us a chance to develop going into the championship. I have no fear, I’m actually looking forward to next year.”

The Déise preserved their senior status with a fifteen point win over Monaghan on Saturday. "It's relief. We came here with disappointment to be here. We didn't have to prove a lot to ourselves, we know within the camp how good this team is. Today, to come and perform like we did, we really owned the game from start to finish. It took us ten or fifteen minutes to settle and just make sure we were patient on the ball. I can't be more proud of the players. What they've done this year is second to none. Small margins have cost us. Small margins could have us in a semi final as well as a quarter final. We'll learn a lot from this year. We can't fear anybody."
