There’s more to come from Dessie Hutchinson according to former Déise hurling boss Michael Ryan.
The Ballygunner man blasted 1-3 from play in Waterford’s eight point loss to Galway last Sunday including a goal of the year contender. He was nominated for an All Star in 2020 after shooting 3-12 in his first inter county season. Ryan believes that he can back that up.
"I was listening to a conversation on Dessie a couple of months ago and people were saying that he had a decent enough first season and he would be found out in the second season and he wouldn't be able for the physicality. He put that to bed last weekend. I thought he was outstanding. He won his own ball, his movement was very good, he chipped with a sensational goal and three points as well. I have no doubt that the best of Dessie Hutchinson is coming down the track. If he gets good ball in, he's a match for anybody. He's nippy, he's got a great jink, a great sidestep, he knows where the posts are. He’s got everything at his disposal and he’s going to be a top player.”
Waterford v Tipperary will be the George Corbett Skoda Big Match on Sunday. Join Kieran O’Connor and Dan Shanahan for live coverage from 1.30.
