On the week that Ireland lost one of its sporting heroes in Jack Charlton, his former club Leeds face into a game where they can extend their lead at the top of the Championship by 3 points.

It could be Leeds' first time back in the English top flight in  16 years. Charlton made a record 773 for the Peacocks and there would be no better tribute to the big man than climbing back to the top division in England.

Elsewhere today there are four Premier League fixtures

The early kick off is Wolves against Everton at Moilyneux - Nuno Espirto Santos side trail 6th placed Sheffield United by just two points and three points are badly needed if they have any hopes of European games next season.

Carlo Ancelottis Everton are idling in 11th with 4 games left to play. Irish international Matt Doherty has started for Wolves, with Seamus Coleman on the Everton bench.

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith says he'll take any kind of win right now, no matter how ugly it might be.

The second from bottom side are seven points off safety and in desperate need of a victory heading into their game with Crystal Palace this afternoon.

The North London Derby takes centre stage at half past four with Spurs travelling to the Emirates.

Elsewhere, as mentioned above - Jack Charlton's one and only club Leeds, can extend the gap at the top between themselves and chasers West Brom by taking on three points on offer at Swansea.

 

The second Formula 1 event  since the covid lockdown postponed the season gets underway today with the Styrian F1 Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton will need to excel in different conditions if he is to succeed.

In the PGA Tour -American Justin Thomas leads the Workday Charity Open heading into the final round this afternoon.

The 27-year-old shot a 66 yesterday to lead Norwegian Viktor Hovland by two shots on 16 under.

Graeme McDowell is best of the Irish at the PGA Tour event - he sits on 5 under for the tournament out on the course, while Shane Lowry is one under par.
