Cyril Farrell says that Waterford sharpshooter Stephen Bennett is in the shake-up for Hurler of the Year ahead of Sunday's All Ireland final. The Ballysaggart attacker has scored 5-79 for the Déise in all competitions.
"Stephen Bennett is having the season of his life I think. He's playing out of his skin. Not alone is he doing the hooking and blocking but he's getting fantastic scores. He seems to be on a different level."
Gearoid Hegarty is Limerick's strongest contender for the award in Farrell's view. He has got thirteen points from play in the 2020 championship. "Against Galway, he floated around and did what he liked. He caught ball, he tackled early, he tackled late. No one laid a hand on him. I don't expect Waterford to do that the next day. I'd say it's between Stephen Bennett and Gearoid Hegarty."
