Waterford FC 4 Treaty United 0
Ray Scott reports...
Waterford extended their winning streak to six games with a four-nil drubbing of Treaty United which was also their first-ever win over the Limerick side.
An opening forty-five minutes saw a resolute Treaty side frustrate the Blues as they cut out attack after attack with some solid defending. There were chances from Phoenix Patterson and Shane Griffin who were denied by the excellent Jack Brady who also saved superbly from Louis Britton in injury time.
However, the fans only had to wait 6 minutes into the second half for the opener which came from Britton in a move started by Roland Idowu who linked well with Patterson before crossing low across the face of the goal where Britton pounced for his 8th goal of the season.
The lead was doubled on sixty-three minutes when Patterson turned provider for Idowu to slot home from close range and Shane Griffin made it three with an excellent shot from inside the area three minutes later.
Cian Kavanagh scored Waterford’s fourth in injury time when Patterson’s corner was met at the back post by Killian Cantwell who headed back across the goal where Kavanagh rose highest to head home from close range.
