Waterford camogie coach Dan Shanahan is unsure about whether inter county activity should continue this winter as 1,276 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded yesterday.
“It’s not getting any better. The older generation would love to see the games going ahead on television but these girls are amateur players and the lads are amateurs. When you see professional soccer players testing positive, and they have the best of everything and they can go home and relax and isolate, and we have amateur players that have to go teaching, go to college, go to work on a Monday, a few questions have to be answered there. Every inter county player wants to play. If I was young again, I’d love to play. The safety of people, especially the front liners, must come into this. The way the rates are rising, it’s a big decision for the Government and the GAA.”
