The 2024 Waterford SFC gets underway this evening.
An Rinn and Gaultier face off at Lemybrien for a 5.30 throw in. An Rinn lost to eventual champions Rathgormack in last year's semi finals while Gaultier went down to The Nire in the quarters after extra time.
Five clubs must switch codes just one week after competing in county hurling finals. "While clubs are accepting this, it will carry on," Mac Dara Mac Donncha of the Dungarvan Leader told WLR's Lár Na Páirce show. "It's as simple as that. If clubs want to change it, they have to change it themselves. Otherwise, it will continue. It's impossible to do it because they are two different games in every sense."
Three matches are pencilled in for Sunday. 2023 Premier Intermediate champions Roanmore start their senior adventure against Clashmore/Kinsalebeg in the Dungarvan GAA Grounds at 1 o'clock.
Fraher Field will play host to a double header. Ballinacourty and Kilrossanty will have to put their county hurling final losses behind them in the curtain raiser at 2.30. Rathgormack start their defence of the Conway Cup against Brickey Rangers at 4 o'clock.
