It's being reported today that former Tipperary hurler Liam Cahill is set to become the new manager of the Waterford senior hurling team in the coming days.

He led the Tipp minors and Under 21's to All Ireland glory in recent seasons.

The former All-Star forward is expected to have former Waterford star Stephen Molumphy as part of his management team.

Stephen has been gaining coaching experience with Davy Fitzgerald at Wexford.     The Irish Independent reports that Michael Bevans is also rumoured to be involved.

The selection committee made their decision on Monday night but the new manager will not be officially revealed until it is ratified by the Waterford County Board.

That meeting is expected to take place early next week.

The selection committee is made up of county secretary Pat Flynn, vice-chairman Sean Michael O’Regan, Irial Mac Murchú , Stephen Frampton and Tom Feeney
