A late goal from Niamh Rockett fired Waterford to their first win of the All Ireland senior camogie championship as they got the better of Dublin 1-11 to 1-5 in a tough encounter at a sunny Walsh Park.

The sides were level four times in the second half before Rockett whipped home on 52 minutes after Patricia Jackman sent in a dangerous sideline cut. The inspirational captain scored 1-2 from play while Beth Carton hit eight points (seven from placed balls).

The home side led by three points after as many minutes. A Kerrie Finnegan goal on 24 minutes edged the Sky Blues 1-2 to 0-4 ahead at half time but Waterford dug deep in a scrappy affair to take the three points.
