LOCAL WEEKEND WINNERS

Dungarvan jockey Niall Houlihan recorded back-to-back victories on Cobra Commander at Newton Abbot on Saturday. Up with the pace throughout 4/1 shot Cobra Commander eased his way to the front in the latter stages before running out a comfortable winner at the finish.

Coping well with atrocious weather conditions the Henry De Bromhead trained 4/1 shot Irascible stayed on stoutly in the closing stages to win over hurdles at Cork on Sunday.

There were two winners with a Waterford connection at the point-to-point fixture in Portlaw . In the second contest on a six-race card the Pat Crowley trained and Mikey Sweeney partnered No But I Will ran out a clear-cut winner while In the final race of the fixture the Delton Syndicate owned and Richard O Hara trained ten-year-old Mister Campbell struck the front in the closing stages to record a two lengths success.                            

GALOPIN BACK TO WINNING WAYS                      

After his unfortunate mishap at Cheltenham the Willie Mullins trained and Paul Townend partnered Galopin Des Champs the red hot 2/11 market leader returned to winning ways at Fairyhouse making every stride a winning one in the Grade 1 Novice Chase.
