Conor Prunty is a notable absence from the Waterford starting fifteen named for this weekend’s do-or-die battle with Clare in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship.
The Déise captain is the only absentee from the fifteen that lost out at home to Cork last weekend, with Ballygunner’s Ian Kenny coming in to the starting side to replace the Abbeyside man. Fourmilewater’s Conor Gleeson is named at full-back.
Mount Sion’s Austin Gleeson retains his place in the half-forward line following his red card against the Rebels. Jamie Barron will captain the side in Prunty’s absence.
Clare meanwhile have made six changes from their draw with All-Ireland champions Limerick, with Brian Lohan seemingly keeping one eye firmly fixed toward the Munster SHC Final on June 5th.
Captain Tony Kelly is a notable absentee, while Paul Flanagan, Diarmuid Ryan, John Conlon, Jack Browne and Robin Mounsey also make way.
David Reidy, Cian Nolan, Jack Browne, Aaron Fitzgerald, Shane Golden and Ian Galvin all come in from the start.
The Déise must better Cork’s result versus Tipperary to stand any chance of extending their summer beyond this Sunday.
