Seamus Power is back in action at the Barracuda Championship in California this evening.
He had an excellent start yesterday with his five under par putting him in a tie for third place just behind Adam Schenk of the USA. Power birdied twice on the front nine with a par on the other seven. Having made the turn, the back nine saw more success as he bagged a birdie and an eagle.
The leader, Adam Schenk is yet to take a win on the PGA Tour. The 28 year old birdied five of his last seven holes on the opening nine, parred the next seven straight and finished out with birdies on two of his last three.
Since the return of golf, Seamus has started well on several events but has dwindled as the weekends progress. This weekend will be a test for the Waterford man to see if he can sustain a performance across four days. While the the big hitters from the PGA Tour will be competing at the WGC St. Jude Invitational in Memphis where Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry and Graeme McDowell are all in action, the field opens up for the remaining stable of PGA Tour players.
Power tied for 12th at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit 3 weeks ago, finishing on 14 under. His form took a dip at the 3M open in Minnesota where he missed the cut after a disappointing second round performance.
He takes the irons out of the bag once more this evening when he tee's off at 8 o clock Irish time at the Tahoe Mountain Country Club. He hits the fairways alongside D.J. Trahan and Kyoung-Hoon Lee once more.
