A run-of-the-mill opening nine left Seamus Power 1 under approaching the turn last night at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio. Steady par shooting until he birdied the eighth made for a nerve-settling start, but it was on the back nine that everything changed.
Four dropped shots, and three more earned back will see him start round 2 from level par and five shots off the pace.
Cameron Young, Luke List, Cameron Smith, K.H. Lee, Mackenzie Hughes and Davis Riley all share the lead of -5 in Ohio.
Shane Lowry is best placed of the Irish having carded a -3, while Rory McIlroy is one further back on -2.
It will be the same playing partners for the Irish trio this afternoon when they return to action, with Seamus once again pairing up with KH Lee and Marc Leishman for a 6 pm start (Irish time), albeit today he starts from the back nine.
