Boxer Kellie Harrington, the third Irish person ever to win an Olympic Gold medal, was in Waterford today (Friday June 10th).
The Dubliner was in Dunhill Eco Park to visit St Christopher's Cancer Care Transport, as part of SPAR’s Community Road Trip, which rewards clubs for the good work they do locally.
Speaking to WLR Sport, Harrington praised the team at the centre in Dunhill, emphasising the importance of community spirit. Community was strongly in evidence in her native Portland Row last August, in the aftermath of the lightweight fighter's Olympic win in Tokyo.
She told Nigel Kelly that her focus is now on the Paris Olympics in 2024.
