Newtown Secondary School won the All-Ireland Schoolboy Championships for the first time as they beat Banbridge Academy of Ulster 1-0 in Belfast this afternoon.

Issac Johnson netted in the final, meaning that eleven of the twelve goals from the Waterford school came from the same family with older brother Ben and Isaac’s twin Sam also on the score sheet during the tournament.

That success added to earlier pool wins over Limerick’s Villiers, Friend’s School and MCD (Methody) to top Group D.

They then dispatched former winners Highschool of Dublin in the semi final 4-3.
