Former Déise boss Derek McGrath believes that Tipperary could do the Waterford hurlers a favour on Sunday.
Liam Cahill's men need the Premier County to beat Cork in Semple Stadium to stay in the championship regardless of what happens in their game away to Clare.
"I look at Tipp against Limerick and I'm looking at this team that are forcefully showing how much pride they have in their approach. I hear Noel McGrath talking about 'we're from Tipperary, we're very proud people and I've never been as proud to be associated with this team.' Is Colm Bonnar saying 'look lads, there's still a glimmer of hope for us here.' That's where my hope lies. Tipperary have a lot of good players who are either looking at the glimmer of hope at the end of the season or something that will sustain them for the beginning of next season. My hope is that with five minutes to go we'll hear Tipp, Tipp, Tipp! I've never wanted to hear that before! When I was manager and I heard that, I said 'I'm in awful bother here!' They've lots of hope, I don't think it's as cut and dried as people think."
