Multiple sporting events have been cancelled across Waterford due to current weather warnings.

Waterford is under a status yellow weather warning for rain until 5 pm, after which the county will be included in the status orange warning for snow and rain, along with Cork and Kerry.

As a result, several sporting events have been canceled.

The Oscar Traynor semi-final between Waterford & Limerick Desmond, due to take place on Sunday, January 5th at Ozier Park has been canceled, as has the Munster Shield last 32 game between Seaview Celtic & Aisling Annacoty of Limerick.

The Men's Division One basketball game between SETU Waterford Vikings and visitors Carrick Cruisers of Monaghan has also been canceled. The game between SETU Waterford Wildcats & Catalyst Father Matthews will take place, however start time has been moved to 3 pm.

Greyhound racing in Kilcohan Park is also canceled, with Greyhound Racing Ireland issuing a statement.

"The RCÉ Executive Team met again this afternoon to review all track inspections that have taken place across the country today in the context of the current weather forecast issued by Met Eireann.
Following that review and local inspections, RCE wishes to advise that due to a frozen track and under welfare consideration for greyhounds Kilcohan Park Greyhound Stadium (Waterford)  have canceled racing scheduled for tonight (Saturday 4th January 2025)."
