Gailltir retained their Munster intermediate camogie title with a 2-17 to 1-11 triumph over Toomevara at a blustery Cappamore this afternoon. A third provincial trophy in four years.
The defending champions played with a stiff breeze in the opening half but conceded a first minute goal to Aoife Ryan. The blue and navy recovered as Emer Walsh and Aoife Fitzgerald raised green flags to leave them 2-12 to 1-2 in front at the break. Player of the match Annie Fitzgerald fired six points in the first half (five from play) and finished with eight in total.
The Gailltir defence held firm in the second period with Ciara Jackman producing a fine double save. Walsh, Fitzgerald and Anne Corcoran added insurance points.
This win sets up a rematch with Clonduff from Down in the All Ireland semi final in January.
