The Dundalk native scored Waterford's goal against Shamrock Rovers in the 6-1 defeat at The Tallaght Stadium on Monday - that was his third goal of the season for the Blues.

O'Connor first joined the Blues in 2019, making 24 appearances for the club. Michael joined Waterford FC on loan from Linfield in July 2019 and he returned once again on loan in January of this year before signing permanently in July of this year. His move to the SPL means he has now departed Waterford FC three times within the space of 14 months.

The fee involved between Waterford FC and Ross County has not been disclosed.

Speaking to WLR Sport today as he said goodbye to the Blues players, Michael said it was an opportunity he could not turn down. He added that he loved every minute of his time with Waterford and he will always have a place in his heart for the club.
