Former Manchester United player and 1966 World Cup winner with England Nobby Stiles has passed away at the age of 78.
The football legend died after a long battle with prostate cancer and dementia.
Stiles was part of the Manchester United team that lined out against Waterford FC in the 1968 European Cup.
Waterford FC Legend Alfie Hale recalled facing Stiles in the game, in the WLR documentary Waterford FC and The European Kings.
"The tussles I had specifically were with Nobby Stiles who was one of the greatest defenders known in world-class football.
"We had a great time and he kicked me all over the park but off the park, he'd just jump on your shoulders and pull you into the bar and have a few drinks.
"That was the way they did it then, 90 minutes you were the enemy and after that you couldn't be a better friend."
At the time Waterford FC played two games against United, who subsequently went on to win the competition.
The former Manchester United midfielder lived close to Old Trafford until his death.
