Liam Cahill will be preparing for the All Ireland final without his captain Pauric Mahony.
The Ballygunner man has been unavailable throughout the championship having damaged his ACL in a challenge game with Wexford before the championship began.
Mahony says that injuries, when you are training at an elite level, are just part of the game.
"When you're pushing the boundaries, it's only natural that you're going to pick up one or two knocks or injuries along the way. I've just been unfortunate that it's happened this year with the run the team have gone on, but it's not about me it's about the team - getting everything ready and getting your house in order for Sunday week, turning up and performing"
"It's very tough when the hard work was done. Then a week or two out from Championship, it's a cruel blow, but look, I'm not the only person in this situation. You have Darragh Fives who's soldiered for a number of years with multiple injuries and Tuesday night before the Championship he went down with an injury"
Mahony complemented his management team of Liam Cahill and Mickey Bevans, who have managed to claim a senior All-Ireland spot in the first time of asking.
"They've brought an energy to the whole thing that's after seeping right down across the panel of players that's there. They're after installing a new level of work ethic, but also allowing lads to go and express themselves with a bit of freedom once the balls thrown in. I think they're after striking a nice balance of what's required."
