Brian Lynch kicked nine points as Clashmore/Kinsalebeg defeated Ardmore by 0-12 to 1-5 in round one of the county senior football championship at Fraher Field this afternoon.
Ciaran Keating fisted in a second half goal for Ardmore but 13 wides proved costly.
Lynch got a wonder score off the outside of his right with nine minutes remaining. Clashmore boss Paudie Connery told WLR Sport that the number eleven is one of the top forwards in the county. "He is our captain this year and he is our talisman. He would hold his own with any forward in the county, a tricky job for any defender to mark. That point with the outside of the boot from the stand was something to really behold."
Connery confirmed that injured pair Tadhg De Burca and Brian O'Halloran are unlikely to feature for the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, second half goal by Adam Walsh saw Kilmacthomas get the better of Brickey Rangers by 1-10 to 0-9 in Leamybrien.
