Waterford will play Limerick in the All-Ireland final on December 13th.
Having beaten Kilkenny on Saturday evening, The Deise booked their place in the showpiece game for the first time since 2017, but they had to wait until last evening before they knew who they would be lining out against.
After 70 minutes of regular time and 9 minutes added on, Limerick have booked their place alongside the Deise where the sides will meet in the decider for the first time in history.
If goals wins games, then Waterford will be buoyed by what they saw play out at GAA HQ with the Treaty and the Tribesmen knocking over 27 and 24 points respectively. The Shannonsiders will rue not sealing up their goal scoring chances they had with Eanna Murphy preventing them on three separate occasions.
On the other end of the pitch, Galway talismanic Joe Canning provided his usual stellar contributions with four sideline cuts sailing through the uprights. Galway were unfortunate to lose Canning on the 61st minute after he collided with his colleague Joseph Cooney.
Outside of the early going when Galway held a 0-7 t0 0-2 lead over Limerick, once the Treaty took the lead, it rarely felt like they would offer it back to Galway.
Despite the game going level on 0-22 to 0-22 and 0-23 to 0-23 after the clock had passed 70 minutes, there was never a feeling that Galway were going to claw it back.
With a rugby clock in effect ticking towards 80 minutes, Tom Morrissey stood up once more and put enough daylight between the sides to ensure Limerick would be back in Croke Park in a fortnights time.
Having failed to net a goal in three of their last four games, John Kiely will be deep in thought as to how to return a goal-scoring threat ahead of the Waterford clash – with Liam Cahill’s side having near burst the net five times in two games, albeit, none against Limerick in the Munster final.
