Two-time All-Star Kevin Moran has called time on his stellar inter-county hurling career after sixteen seasons in a Waterford shirt.

The De La Salle club man made 143 league and championship appearances for the Deise - a feat only eclipsed by Michael 'Brick' Walsh and Tony Browne.

The 34-year-old made his debut in 2006 under Justin McCarthy, going on to win two Munster medals and two National Hurling Leagues. He played in three All-Ireland finals in Deise blue - in 2008, 2017 and 2020.

Moran captained the side in the 2017 All-Ireland Final, scoring Waterford's opening goal that day.

He won an All-Star the same year, having won the other in 2012.

Calling time on his illustrious inter-county career, Moran thanked all for the wonderful memories while wishing Liam Cahill and his side nothing but the best for the future.

"After 16 years I have decided the time is right for me to step away from inter-county hurling and to concentrate on putting more time into my club De La Salle.

"I would like to thank everyone that has been involved with all the Waterford senior hurling teams during my time on county panels. In particular, I would like to thank the Waterford fans, my club DLS, family, friends and my wife Aoife for being so supportive through all the good and bad days. I would really like to wish all the very best to Liam Cahill and all the Waterford backroom and panel for next year. Up the Deise."
