Former Ireland captain John O’Shea, who's from Ferrybank, has been appointed assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad.
The 38-year-old is currently on the coaching staff at Reading.
Current Waterford FC coach Jim Crawford has been promoted to manager of the Under-21 side.
It comes after Stephen Kenny has taken over the role of manager of the senior side, with Mick McCarthy agreeing to step aside early yesterday.
FAI Interim CEO Gary Owens confirmed the appointments this afternoon:
"Everyone at the FAI is delighted with Jim’s promotion to manager from assistant and he has a great number two now in John O’Shea as he takes the next step on his coaching career."
