Passage were the last team to beat Ballygunner in a Waterford SHC final all of seven years ago.

That 2013 decider had an incredible climax as late goals by Sean Hogan and Conor Carey secured a famous 3-16 to 3-13 win for Peter Queally's charges.

"I've rarely seen such a dramatic ending to any sporting event," former Waterford captain Brian Flannery told WLR's  Lár Na Páirce show.

"Ballygunner were seven points up with seven minutes to go and ended up losing by three. A ten point turnaround. The black and red ribbons were already being adorned onto the cup, it was quite a dramatic finish. For Passage, to win the way they did, that's a famous day in their history. On the other side of the coin, it's probably been a huge motivating factor for Ballygunner. It's like Remember the Alamo or Remember 2013 for Ballygunner. If there is any complacency, the memory of losing that final to Passage will be foremost in their minds again this Sunday. When you look at the 2016 final, there was a fair dollop of revenge in that. No matter what happens this Sunday, that's a day that will always be special for Passage supporters. They'll always have that."
