David Howell from Waterford Landscapes will be making a special effort to have Walsh Park looking pitch perfect for Sunday’s Waterford SHC Final between his native Passage and Ballygunner.

"It's like our All Ireland day. It's the biggest game we're going to have here this year with the way the Munster championship fell through. We're going to pull out all the stops and hopefully put on a show for the county final. That's what we want to do."

Walsh Park is his pride and joy. "I can switch off from my own business and I love coming in here on the weekends when there's matches on. You take a pride and a passion in what you do with it."

The COVID-19 lockdown was a rollercoaster ride for Waterford Landscapes. "It's been the hardest year so far for us. Everything came to an abrupt stop. We maintained the pitch albeit we cut back immensely, there wasn't the same plan in place with the Munster championship coming up. That was gone overnight. It was a very tough few weeks, an awful amount of work that we had to cancel. The private work just went through the roof. Everyone was off, everyone was at home, holidays were cancelled so everyone was ringing me looking to get jobs done in the garden. It was overwhelming the amount work that came in. It's great that the people that have always been ringing are still ringing."
