There will be a big Waterford interest in the UPMC Ashbourne Cup at the WIT Arena this weekend.

Two-time All Star Beth Carton will captain UL in their drive for five and she will be joined by county team mates Annie Fitzgerald and Kate Lynch. Brianna O'Regan, Caroline Kennedy, Kate McMahon, Orla Hickey and Shauna Fitzgerald will represent WIT. These two superpowers of third level camogie will meet in the first semi final on Saturday at 12.45.

Ciara O'Sullivan and Sibeal Harney are on the books of UCC while Ciara Jackman and Hannah Flynn are part of the DCU panel. The second semi throws in at 2.45.

"It's chock-a-block with quality players, All Ireland winners and All Stars from all the top counties," said sportswriter  Daragh Ó Conchúir on Friday's Lár Na Páirce. "I'd encourage people to get out; you'll be seeing the best of the best."

He fancies UL to complete the five in a row on Sunday afternoon. "Looking at the squads, they have such firepower. I think it will be UL's year but I know WIT will throw everything at them in the semi final."
