Gailltir camogie captain Áine Lyng was in no rush when she carried the Agnes O'Farrelly cup across Rice Bridge.

The inspirational skipper has been recognised as the March winner of the WLR Granville Hotel GAA Awards. The blue and navy produced a late, late show against St Rynaghs in Croke Park as super sub Úna Jackman hit the top corner of the net in the fourth minute of injury time. Lyng enjoyed bringing an All Ireland back to Waterford that Sunday night.

"The bus pulled up by the train station and we were greeted by a Garda escort. Maybe being a bit older, my legs were tired so I was a bit slower getting across the bridge. The rest of the girls took off! I was Paddy Last coming with the cup! They were steps that I didn’t want to rush. It was very special to bring an All Ireland title back to your county. It was something to be celebrated. It was lovely just walking across the bridge and for women’s sport in Waterford to be acknowledged. We were blue lighted back to the Woodlands Hotel where we were greeted by the community. It’s lovely when young girls and young boys get to see that women in sport can achieve and that it can be celebrated. Nationally, more can be done to recognise women’s sport. When you see the national coverage of the club finals, it’s very imbalanced. 20×20 is a great movement and that needs to be pushed forward. When we came across the bridge that night, for the general public to see a female sports team being acknowledged in that way, it’s special and it shows that times are moving on."
