Irish quarter set for US Open in LA

The 123rd US Open kicks off today, with four Irish golfers in the field at the Los Angeles Country Club.

This is the 123rd edition of the tournament, and the first time in 75 years that it has been hosted in LA. The last time it was hosted in the Sunshine State was in 1948 at the Riviera Country Club.

Last year at Brookline, Waterford's Seamus Power claimed a share of 12th place in what was his first year playing major golf. His last outing was two weeks ago at the Memorial Tournament where he tied for 41st.

Seamus plays with Belfast amateur Matt McClean and New Zealand's Ryan Fox when they tee off at 4.35 this afternoon.
