WIT Elite Sports Scholar Phil Healy competes in the 200 metres.

The Cork native is back in action after fracturing her foot in a fall 11 weeks ago.

President of WIT, Prof Willie Donnelly passed on his well wishes to her on behalf of the whole WIT community.

"I’d like to take this opportunity to wish our Elite Sports Scholar Phil Healy the very best of luck at the World University Games in Napoli where she will compete in the 200 metres.

"We are all very proud of her achievements and she is a fantastic ambassador for WIT.

"I would also like to acknowledge the work of her coach and current WIT Vikings Athletics Development Officer Shane McCormack, who will be representing Ireland in a coaching capacity throughout the games."

Speaking prior to her departure to the games Phil could not hide her excitement at returning to compete. She outlined how she was "really looking forward to kicking off the season again, I’ve worked really hard to get back into shape after fracturing my foot after a fall 11 weeks ago. This is my second World University Games, and I can’t wait to represent WIT again on the international stage."

She went on to outline her appreciation to the scholarship programme in WIT stating that "the support from the college since I arrived two years ago has been superb in helping me and my coach Shane McCormack to perform at the highest level.

"The Elite Sports Scholarship is so established within the college in terms of support and services.

"Both with injury and without injury, having access to physio, sport psychology and state of the art facilities in the WIT Arena has helped me excel in my training."}
