Wexford legend Larry O’Gorman is still mad about hurling.
The 1996 hurler of the year is currently senior selector, under 21 manager, underage coach, fundraiser for winthehouse.ie and groundsman with his club Faythe Harriers. He recently togged out for the juniors at the age of 51. “My wife says that if I don’t pull back from it, she’ll end up divorcing me and I may have to marry the Harriers GAA club!”
He’s out on Pairc Charman every night of the week. It’s a labour of love. “The club have given me so much in my past and done so much for me and so kind to me. The people who coached me, the people who looked after me, the people put the pound into my pocket when I had no money after training or matches so I could buy an ice cream or something to drink. Those people will never be forgotten by me. I always wanted to put something back into the club and I’ll do as much as I can for as long as I can.”
