Sunday Game analyst Cyril Farrell says that Waterford captain Pauric Mahony will be sorely missed for the Munster semi final against Cork on October 31. Mahony has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
The Ballygunner ace has scored a stunning 3 goals and 516 points in league and championship over the past ten seasons for Waterford. “Not alone will Liam Cahill miss him, hurling will miss him. No matter what the county team, Pauric would be a cert on it. Not alone his free taking, he’s immaculate on the frees, he gets nine out of ten or eight out of nine, but he does well in general play and he’s a leader on the pitch. More so in the last two or three years. Stephen Bennett will probably step up and that will keep him in the game. When free takers keep tapping over the points, it keeps them in the game.”
Cyril Farrell will preview the Munster Hurling Championship on Lár Na Páirce from 6.10 this evening.
