Former Waterford boss Michael Ryan believes that Ballygunner attacker Pauric Mahony is in the form of his life ahead of Sunday's All Ireland semi final against Shamrocks Ballyhale.

Mahony has scored 2-69 for the Gunners this season. The former Déise captain was man of the match in the Munster semi final win over Na Piarsaigh with thirteen points.

"He has always been a very good player but his scoring ratio this year seems to have gone up, he is scoring six or seven points from play. I think he's playing the best hurling of his life. He's a really top class hurler. Over the years, people would say that most of his contribution was from frees, that's a little bit unfair. I always felt that he was the playmaker in their attack. This year, not alone is he the playmaker and finding space but he's also putting the ball over the bar."
