Waterford will play in Division 2 of the National Camogie League again next year.
They've been defeated by Wexford in the Division 2 semi-final this afternoon.
Both sides were very evenly matched throughout the first half.
They were level five times as they went into the break with six points apiece; three points for Beth Carton and four points for Annie Curran on the Wexford side.
There was also a spectacular diving save by the Déise's Brianna O'Regan in that opening half.
However, Wexford stepped on the accelerator for the second 30 minutes and managed to clock-up 1 goal and 5 points unanswered in the last quarter of the game.
The decisive goal came from Ciara O'Connor, seven minutes from time.
Waterford went 23 minutes without a score in a frustrating second period. They had five wides and a Beth Carton free also came back off the upright.
Carton got two second-half frees, on 42 and 44 minutes, but Waterford had to wait until the 7th minute of injury time to add to their tally, courtesy of Vikki Falconer.
It finished in Netwatch Cullen Park on a scoreline of 1-12 for Wexford, and 9 points for the Déise.
Wexford will now face either Antrim or Cork in the final next week in Croke Park, on Sunday April 9th. The second semi-final is underway this afternoon.
