Jim Goodwin has made a swift return to management in Scotland.
Just over a month after he was sacked by Aberdeen, he’s been handed a short-term deal by the Scottish Premiership's bottom team, Dundee United.
Goodwin, who began his football career with his native Tramore, has been coaching in Scotland since 2016 when he took the helm of Alloa Athletic as player/manager.
Having played with St. Mirren for five years, making 153 for the Paisley club, Goodwin got the call to take the reigns as manager where he would go on to boast a 32% winning record, managing 120 games.
With the club sixth in the Scottish Premiership table, Aberdeen called to activate his release clause which saw Jim make the move North.
His first season with Aberdeen saw the side finish the league campaign in tenth place - albeit with Goodwin taking charge when the club were seventh and already knocked out of the Scottish Cup and League Cup as well as the UEFA Conference League.
Wholesale change was made to the squad for his first full term in charge, but a poor run of results with heavy losses to Hearts and Hibernian saw the Tramore man come under heavy pressure from the club's owners.
The 6-0 loss to Hibernian was the heaviest defeat to the side in Aberdeen's history and club management saw fit to terminate his contract.
He has been out of work since his departure from the Pittodrie Stadium, but he now faces into a new challenge with Dundee.
The Terrors have seven games left in the campaign having registered just five wins in 27 outings.
His first test will be a home game against his former club Aberdeen this Saturday.
