The Waterford footballers suffered a heartbreaking one point loss to Wexford this afternoon in Division 4 of the National League (0-15 to 0-14).

The sides were all square entering the closing stages but late points from Robbie Brooks and Mark Rossiter sealed a narrow victory for the home side. The visitors missed five chances in injury time before Tom O'Connell sent over a point in the 77th minute. It proved too little too late as referee Jonathan Hayes called for the ball.

Jason Curry and Darragh Corcoran kicked four points each for Waterford and Dermot Ryan got two massive second half efforts but the Déise came up just short. It's their second one point defeat of the campaign as they remain bottom of the Division 4 table.

In a stop start encounter, Hayes blew for 51 frees. Wind assisted Wexford led 7-1 after 14 minutes. There was an early change between the posts for Waterford as Paudie Hunt replaced Aaron Beresford after just 19 minutes.
