An injury time goal from super sub Craig Guiry and eleven points from man of the match Aaron Ryan saw Fourmilewater deny Ballysaggart their first ever senior win at Fraher Field this afternoon (1-19 to 1-17).
In a cracking championship battle, Ballysaggart led 1-16 to 0-16 after 59 minutes. Chris O'Gorman goaled on 42 minutes and All Star attacker Stephen Bennett struck 12 points.
A minute into added time, Saggart keeper Michael Ryan saved from Sean Walsh but Guiry buried the rebound in the bottom corner. Conor Gleeson sent over his third point from play before Aaron Ryan held his nerve with a late, late free from 70 metres. Fourmilewater were glad to hear the final whistle after eleven minutes of injury time.
Fourmile raced into a four point lead after six minutes and kept their noses in front throughout the first half. Michael Ryan's men went in 12-10 ahead at the break.
Aaron Ryan struck seven points (five frees) while Conor Gleeson and Dermot Ryan got two each. Gleeson started at centre forward.
Stephen Bennett hit seven points for Ballysaggart (four frees) while his brother Kieran added two. The 2019 intermediate champions shot nine first half wides compared to one for their opponents. Saggart finished the hour with 15 as they couldn't hang on for a famous victory.
