While it may not have been the round he was hoping for on Sunday - there is a silver lining to the cloud for Seamus Power.
He handed in his card for a final score of 14 under, leaving him nine shots off the Hudson Swafford in first.
Starting into his final round Seamus was just two shots off the lead after an impressive 54 hole run in the Coachella Valley. Opening up on the Pete Dye Stadium Course, he got off to the worst start possible with a double-bogey and bogey first and second hole.
Power did manage to pull a few back when he birdied the 7th, 8th, 11th & 12th, but he handed back that good work when he doubled on the 6th and went over again on the 15th.
While his final round was far from what he would have hoped, his T14 finish at the AMEX has moved him to 47th in the world rankings. He's now two spots better than Shane Lowry who has dropped to 49th after his T12 finish in Dubai.
Similar to Power, a triple bogey to open his final round at the HSBC Championship ended his hopes of challenging at the top of the leaderboard where he handed in his card for -5. Thomas Pieters took the top spot there on -10.
Seamus is now the second-best ranked golfer from the island of Ireland and the highest-ranked from the republic. Rory McIlroy remains 8th.
While his world rankings continue to improve since new year, his FedEx Cup rankings tell a similar story - he's now 12th and the foremost Irish player, with Rory McIlroy 15th.
With the Masters looming into view in April, Seamus is well placed to make an appearance at the most prestigious of all golf tournaments. If he can manage to win an event with 500 FedEx cup points on offer, or alternatively remain within the top 50 until the week before the Masters - he will be loading his bag into the boot and making the drive down Magnolia Lane.
