Sunday Game analyst Cyril Farrell feels that Waterford could build their team around Austin Gleeson at centre back.

The 2016 hurler of the year starred at midfield for Mount Sion during the club championship but Farrell believes that his best position is number six.

“If I was over Waterford, I would love to have Austin Gleeson at centre back with two wing backs covering and letting him flow into the game and dominate from there. I would love Tadhg De Burca at full back and build around them. They could be launch pads. Once you get Austin on song and really fit, he’s a marquee player. You can lead from centre back. I'd love to have him centre back where the play is. The more he gets involved, you'll keep him tuned in and keep his mind on the game the whole time. Tadhg De Burca is back from injury now, a brilliant player. Derek McGrath didn't like to use the term sweeper but whatever you want to call it, extra man at the back. I wouldn't be playing him as an extra man, I'd be playing him full back and manning it. Those two guys are good enough to man anywhere and you can build around them and drive on from there. It probably won’t happen on Saturday but it would be my way of going forward if I was in charge of Waterford.”

Waterford v Cork in the Munster semi final will be the George Corbett Skoda Big Match on Saturday from 3.15 on WLR.
