John Delaney has stepped down as Executive Vice-President of the FAI.
He's taken the decision to quit after holding talks with the organisation.
The board of the FAI has announced the former CEO's resignation has been made with immediate effect.
The FAI will fulfil certain notice and pension obligations as agreed between the parties.
Mr Delaney served as CEO from 2005 to March 2019.
He became embroiled in controversy over concerns about corporate governance within the organisation and a “bridging loan” he allegedly gave the association 2 years ago.
He was elected to the UEFA Executive in 2017 and in March of this year, he moved to the role of Executive Vice-President of the FAI.
