Déise unchanged from league final win for championship curtain-raiser

Liam Cahill has named an unchanged Waterford team for Sunday’s crunch clash with Tipperary in the first round of the Munster Senior Hurling Championship.

Conor Prunty captains the side from full-back, with Jamie Barron and Austin Gleeson named among the substitutes.

Shaun O’Brien keeps his place between the posts, while Conor Gleeson and Shane McNulty play either side of Prunty in the full-back line.

Jack Fagan and Cathrach Daly will be hoping to build upon their impressive league form, with Clashmore colossus Tadhg De Burca in at number six between them.

It’s a Lyons pairing in midfield with Dungarvan man Darragh and Ballyduff Lower’s Calum bringing the energy in the centre of the field.

Abbeyside’s Neil Montgomery, Lismore’s Jack Prendergast and Dungarvan’s Patrick Curran make up a West Waterford full-forward line.

Dessie Hutchinson, Stephen Bennett and Michael Kiely will seek to provide the goal threat in making up the fifteen.

Meanwhile, Tipperary will be without Séamus Callanan, with Colm Bonnar also naming his Premier team this evening.
